Leder named new chamber director

The Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the selection of Joelle V. Leder as the organization’s new executive director.

Leder replaces Darin Soukup, who left the position after three years to become the director of the Oakhurst Community College Center.

Leder has more than 10 years of experience in sales, marketing, public relations, social media, and as an operations director. Lender will provide knowledge and support for local businesses, community outreach, membership services, communications, and liaison for community organizations. She will also manage the organizations day to day operations.

Leder comes to the chamber from JLP Social Media & Marketing where she created and managed social media exposure, event planning, public relations, and marketing collateral for her clients in the Oakhurst and Los Angeles area. She has also served as an Operations Director at Brax Capital Group in Beverly Hills.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business with emphasis in Sales and Marketing from California State Polytechnic University.

Currently, she is on the board of directors for Soroptimist International of The Sierras and is a director for Sierra Historic Sites Association.

“I love this community and am looking forward to doing all I can to assist chamber members and the overall business climate of Oakhurst and the surrounding area,” Leder said. “I am excited to start this new challenge with the Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce and look forward to working with everyone to further develop our business community.”

“The chamber board of director welcomes Joelle ... she stood out among the rest for a number of reasons,” said Dan Rule, camber president. “Most notably her background in social media, her countless hours of volunteering, her organizational and people skills, and her energy. The entire chamber board welcomes her and looks forward to working with her. We are pleased to have Joelle on board and look forward to a prosperous future with her.”

Leder will begin her new position on Aug. 17.
