Comedy show at Golden Chain Theatre July 18

“Laugh Out Loud,” a comedy show featuring three stand-up comics, will be presented at the Golden Chain Theatre at 9 p.m., Saturday, July 18.

The show will feature JR De Guzman, Cheryl the Soccer Mom, and Joe Klocek.

De Guzman, who will open the show, has entertained crowds all over the US and abroad including France, the Netherlands, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, and Indonesia.

With sharp one-liners and funny songs such as “The Prom Story,” De Guzman has been described as a triple-threat of jokes, songs, and stories.

The versatility of his act has allowed him to entertain comedy and music fans alike, having done shows with musicians Jeremy Passion and Pablo Cruise, as well as comedians April Macie, Rex Navarette, and Edwin San Juan.

Cheryl the Soccer Mom’s comedy is based on her experiences as a suburban soccer mom, and is a favorite of men, women, and audiences of all ages.

Brian Crall, owner of the comedy spot in Sacramento, calls her “a truly talented and professional comic.”

“I was not prepared for Cheryl the Soccer Mom,” said Ramona Cutrer of Brickhouse Talk. “She was unexpectedly hilarious. I know she’s destined for greatness because she has a sweet delivery with knockout punchlines.”

The show headliner is Joe Klocek.

“Joe is a square peg in a round hole sort of guy,” said show promoter XXXXXX. “Raised a midwesterner, he has manners, but living in San Francisco for 20 years, he thinks he’s better than you. Joe does two things - tells stories and talks to the crowd.”

Klocek recently returned from a two month ‘comic in residency’ at the first comedy club in Shanghai, China, where he recorded an album.

Klocek was recently featured on NPRs, “Snap Judgement,” and has also appeared on Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham,” NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” and was commentator for the Emmy-award-winning documentary, “A Bridge so Far.”

Co-creator of the critically acclaimed storytelling show, “Previously Secret Information,” Klocek has been a runner-up in the “San Francisco International Comedy Competition,” and the “Seattle Comedy Competition.”

He was voted “Best Comic” in the 2011 SF Weekly Readers Poll.
