Road map

The Oakhurst branch library will host a presentation on Invest for Life: a Road Map for your Financial Future, 10:30 a.m. to noon, June 30. This event will be presented by Sandra Esqueda of Golden 1 Investment Services, and topics include setting financial goals and priorities, mapping a personalized savings strategy, principles of investing, and working with a financial adviser. The event will be held in the library’s community room.

Super Summer Saturdays

Super Summer Saturdays begin 1 p.m., June 20, with a Junior Ranger program at the Children’s Museum. Learn all about nature, free with membership or admission.

Jazz guitar concert

Twenty-five jazz guitarists and eight bass players from across the U.S. and Canada will perform in a Jazz Guitar Concert, 7-9:30 p.m., Thursday, June 25, at the Queens’ Inn. The concert is the grand finale of an annual five-day Yosemite Jazz Guitar and Bass Workshop being held June 21-26, at Evergreen Conference Center in Oakhurst.

This is the 11th jazz workshop hosted by area guitarist Rich Severson, and sponsored by his guitar lesson website, GuitarCollege.com. Admission is free for the concert, and artist CDs will be available for purchase.

Rummage sale to benefit EMCSPCA

A rummage sale to benefit the EMCSPCA will be held 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., June 27, at 40820 Winding Way (off Highway 41). There is tons of items at great prices. All items will be half off from 1-2 p.m. No early birds.

8 x 10 The Folio Show

A special exhibit, 8 x 10 The Folio Show, opened at Stellar Gallery last week, with a gala reception to be held 4-8 p.m., June 20, featuring a unique body of work by 10 exceptional artists. Each artist will present images, cohesive as a whole, inspired by the artist’s passion.

Concerts in Mariposa

Cousin Jack’s Mariposa Evenings, the free outdoor summer concert series, will present, live in concert, Colorado Road, a five-piece acoustic/electric band, on June 19, and Mike Hammar and the Nails, an electric blues band, on June 20. Hammar was raised in Mariposa and still maintains deep roots there.

Performances begin at 7 p.m., at the Mariposa County Art Park. While the show is free, tips for performers will be solicited, encouraged, and appreciated.

Tickets on sale for Totally ‘80s Summer Sizzle fundraiser

The Totally ‘80s Summer Sizzle fundraiser benefiting Saint Agnes Hospital patient care programs and services will be held 5:30 - 11 p.m., Saturday, July 11, at the Fig Garden Golf Club.

The annual event hosted by the Saint Agnes Men’s Club and presented by Mercedes-Benz of Fresno, draws more than 1,000 guests and has become one of the Valley’s most popular fundraising events – raising $50,000 last year alone.

The evening features an 80s theme with music from Van Halen tribute band The Atomic Punks, and local favorites Shannon Ashley and DJ Randy. Gourmet selections from area local restaurants, and silent and live auctions will be offered. Ticket prices start at $75.Guests can also purchase a $150 “Mr. T’s Golden Ticket” at the event for a chance to win a 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 and a flat screen TV.

Coarsegold Farmer’s Market

The Coarsegold Farmer’s Market is held every Sunday, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., at the Coarsegold Historic Village. There are between 10-12 vendors, offering vegetables, fruits, local honey, olive oil and baked goods. This is a certified Farmer’s Market and EBT cards are accepted.
