Coarsegold man dies in roll-over

A 66-year-old Coarsegold man died June 15, following an accident on Highway 41. According to the California Highway Patrol, Thomas Bianchi was driving a 2004 Ford F-150 northbound on Highway 41 north of Mecca Lane at an unknown speed, at approximately 1:48 p.m.

He made an unsafe turning movement to the right, losing control of his vehicle, which went off the east roadway edge, colliding with the dirt embankment and several large rocks before overturning. The pick-up came to rest on its wheels.

As a result of the single vehicle roll-over collision, Bianchi sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to have been a contributing factor in this collision, which remains under investigation.
