Artists sought for county-wide enrichment program

The Madera County Arts Council is currently recruiting experienced visual, performing, and cultural arts teachers for the Artists to the Schools enrichment programs throughout the county.

Teaching artists carry the mission of the council to ignite the imaginations of young people through the arts. They are directly responsible for developing engaging curricula, and are responsible for developing strong relationships with partner schools.

The enrichment programs run from Aug. 24, to June 3, 2016.

The program is offered to first through eighth grade classes from one to five hours per day per school site.

General responsibilities of the instructors include a mandatory orientation meeting at the end of July; attendance at staff bi-monthly meetings; create ongoing, age appropriate curriculum and lesson plans that promote active learning, skill-building, and aesthetic self esteem.

Art disciplines include drawing, painting, ceramic, mixed media, performance, dance, and music. Compensation is $23 per hour.

To apply, send resume, two letters of recommendation, a brief letter of interest, a sample curriculum outline, and any relevant work samples to Sherril Royse at sroyse@maderaarts.org. Applicants must be submitted by July 10.
