Oakhurst man injured in motorcycle accident

An Oakhurst man was airlifted to Fresno, following an accident on Memorial Day.

At approximately 10:41 a.m., Russell Merle Jorzig, 66, was riding a 1995 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Road 222, just north of Road 426.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Jorzig came to the area in the roadway where there is a sweeping right curve for southbound traffic, and for unknown reasons, failed to negotiate the curve, crossed into northbound traffic, striking the left side of a vehicle in the northbound lane, driven by Kenneth Michael Navarro, Jr., of Fresno. Jorzig was subsequently ejected from the motorcycle, sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Navarro was uninjured.

Alcohol or drugs don’t appear to have been a factor in this collision, which remains under investigation.
