Although the Bass Lake Chamber of Commerce is expecting the annual July 4th Fireworks show to be canceled this year due to the extremely dry condition due to the drought crisis, the organization is moving quickly to make alternative plans for what has historically been one of the largest weekends at the lake.
“The Bass Lake Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors feels it is extremely important not to put our forests and neighbors at risk during this unusually dry season,” said chamber board member Michelle Miller. “But we also appreciate the tradition of the community fireworks show that has been established over the past 78 years. We now see this as a great opportunity to create new traditions and revive old ones at the same time.”
Miller said the chamber hopes to bring new life to the July 4 “Boat Parade of Lights.”
“Plans are also in the works to have a spectacular Laser Light Show over the water, choreographed to music,” Miller explained. “It may also include a giant water screen like the one used at Disneyland during the World of Color Show. We will be announcing more details in the weeks ahead.”
