Dinner raises $2,000 for Manna House

The second annual tri-tip dinner and worship night held Jan. 9 at the New Life Church in Oakhurst, raised $1,400 to benefit Manna House.

The event, attended by 150 Mountain Area residents, was coordinated by Russell and Karianne Beighey Burnett, members of Rushing Wind Ministry, featured a smoked tri-tip dinner, music, a raffle, and fellowship.

“It’s always a great feeling to see community families come together to have fellowship, and worship together to support Manna House,” Russell said.

Russell, along with his wife Karianne are member of the band “Surrenderd Life Worship,” who played during dinner. Other members of the band are Kariann’e father and brother, Mike and Bobby Beighey. The second band that played during dinner was made up of Mountain Area worship leaders Mike Brackney, John Bratton, Bill Samuelson, and Don Telian, accompanied by singer Jackie McCort.

“The smoked tri-tip our Pastor Bill Rice is amazing,” said Karianne. “I’ll tell you how good it is. I know a couple vegetarians that are here tonight for the smoked tri-tip ... the one time a year they will eat meat.”

Karianne said it was great that her church partners with New Life church to put on the dinner.

“New Life Church is beautiful and has a nice kitchen for us to prepare the food in,” Karianne said.

Pastor Bill Rushing of New Life Church, said his church was glad to be a part of the event to help out Manna House.

“Manna House is meeting the needs of many in the community, and it is a pleasure to have the event here at our church,” Rushing said.
