Theft of holiday packages

Madera County Sheriff John Anderson is warning residents to be on guard this holiday season. Do what you can do to protect packages delivered to your front door.

Earlier this week, the sheriff’s department received a call about a suspicious white U-Haul truck that appeared to be canvassing neighborhoods. This truck, with two white males, was seen at on Little Lake Road in Oakhurst. One of the men exited the vehicle and walked onto someone’s property, where UPS had just made a delivery.

This incident should serve as a reminder to folks who are waiting for deliveries. Let neighbors know when you will be away, and ask them to retrieve your packages for safe storage while you are gone.

Meantime, anyone who may have information about the two Caucasian males seen driving through mountain residential neighborhoods and parking in front of their homes, is urged to contact the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at (559) 675-7770.
