Name change for Oakhurst eatery

Over the past 10 years, Todd’s Bar-B-Que has been one of the most popular restaurants in Oakhurst known for its slow-smoked pulled pork, brisket, and ribs.

As of today (Thursday), there is a change at the restaurant - not the food - but the name. The restaurant, at 40713 Highway 41 (across the highway from the Day’s Inn), is now called Alice’s Cookhouse.

Todd Leaf, who was co-owner of Todd’s with Alice Leaf, has relocated to Clovis, where he will soon open a new Todd’s Bar-B-Que. Alice is staying in Oakhurst to continue running Alice’s Cookhouse.

“After 10 years of shared-ownership, I want everyone to know that the food is still going to be great,” Alice said. “We are going to make some long-needed improvements in the dining area with new furnishings and artwork, as well as adding some exciting new items on the menu. We are keeping the majority of our extraordinary staff so our guests can expect the same high level of service they have been accustomed to.”

Alice said the restaurant is holding a grand re-opening this Thursday through Sunday, offering some specials, including a buy one pulled-pork sandwich meal, and receive a second sandwich meal half off during those four days.

“I want to thank the community for the past 10 years of support and I’m looking forward to serving the community great food for another 10 years and beyond,” Alice said. “We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend.”

Alice’s Cookhouse will offer more than 10 sandwiches, Cajun jambalaya, chicken wings, fish and chips, fresh handmade shakes, and for dessert, homemade Georgia peach cobbler, and bread pudding.

Orders can be placed in advance for pick-up and the restaurant will also provide catering for private parties and events.
