Car collides with Iron Horse BBQ

Around 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 a Nissan Sentra traveling northbound on Highway 41 veered off the road striking the Iron Horse BBQ restaurant located near the America’s Best Value Inn.

According to witnesses the car was traveling well above the posted 35 M.P.H. speed limit when the driver tried to make a late turn losing control and ended up running into the Iron Horse train barbecue.

According to Barbara Peterson, co-owner of the Iron Horse, the car’s three passengers were visiting from San Francisco and were planning to stay the week in the Oakhurst Area. Peterson estimates the damages to be well into the thousands of dollars and has no set timetable for when repairs might be completed.

Despite damages to the Iron Horse BBQ Peterson says the doors will remain open for business as usual.
