Sheriff John Anderson has launched a search for 76-year-old Nick Goldman of North Fork, who failed to return from a cross-country hike to Chiquito Lake in the Sierra National Forest. Goldman is the former owner of Outback Materials.
California Highway Patrol is providing air support in the search, and just located Goldman’s vehicle, parked near the Chiquito Lake Trailhead.
Goldman, planned to hike cross-country to Chiquito Lake (an elevation of 8,000 feet), and to return Tuesday night, Sept. 9. He was last seen wearing khaki colored pants, a fishing hat, and carrying a brownish tan backpack.
More information will be released when made available. In the meantime, anyone with information about the overdue hiker can call the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at (559) 675-7770.
