The Bridge Fire, which started around 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, has burned 300 acres and is 65% contained.
According to Cal Fire, as of 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, evacuations orders for the Ponderosa Basin have been lifted with the exception of residents living along the "dirt" road section of Harris Road. The evacuation order for the "dirt" section of Harris Road remains in effect. Harris Road is closed due to fire suppression efforts still in progress.
Areas outside the control lines will be closely monitored for any new spot fires. The crews will continue mopping up and looking for hot spots within the containment lines. Interiors portions of the fire will continue to burn and may produce smoke
Highway 49 has been re-opened for through traffic but drivers are being told to remain cautious of firefighting personnel.
There has been one minor injury and no structures have been damaged.
Evacuation centers have been closed and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Agencies involved include Cal Fire, US Forest Service, Mariposa County Fire Department, Merced County Fire department, Madera County Fire Department, Mariposa County Sheriff’s Department, Madera County Sheriff’s Department, PG&E, Red Cross, CHP and other local government resources.
