Do something unique this year for Valentine’s — enjoy an extraordinary wine tasting experience on “Wine & Chocolate” weekend, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Feb. 8 and 9.
Travel to 10 wineries on the Madera Wine Trail and taste a wide variety of award-winning wines, along with chocolate pairings, strolling musicians, gift shopping, artists painting landscapes, hayrides, gourmet food, premium cigars, and the opportunity to meet the winemakers.
Wine Trail Weekend is the perfect time for visitors to experience Madera’s rich wine heritage and unique family wineries. Plan to taste and take home award-winning wines. Participating wineries will have a large selection of excellent wines to choose from and many will have special pricing on Wine & Chocolate Weekend.
Participating wineries include Oakhurst’s Idle Hour Winery, Birdstone, Chateau Lasgoity, Fasi Estate, Ficklin Vineyards, Papagni Wines, Quady, San Joaquin Wine Co., Sumner Peck Ranch, and Westbrook Wine Farm in O’Neals (by appointment only).
Dave Henderson and the Henderson Project will perform at Idle Hour Winery on Saturday, with Good Medicine performing on Sunday.
Chefs will showcase Idle Hour’s award-winning wines, along with ground sirloin with bacon-balsamic marmalade and garlic aioli on a toasted brioche bun, beef short ribs braised in red wine and a hint of chocolate, sauteed shrimp, and chocolate ganache cake served with red wine caramel, almonds and mascarpone cream.
The Madera Wine Trail encourages safe driving through the use of designated drivers, who have free event entry, and can pick up a VIP kit at their first stop on the Trail.
Ticket Information: Tickets are available for $25 in advance through Feb. 7 and $30 on the weekend. A ticket includes a keepsake wine glass and is your pass to wine-tasting on the trail all weekend long. Tickets can be purchased online at maderawinetrail.com, or at Oakhurst’s Idle Hour Winery.
