Demolition and clean-up at Oakhurst Lodge on the north-west corner of Highway 41 and Crane Valley Road (426) began Monday morning by Randy Papike Construction.

A fire just after midnight on May 23, destroyed one building (26 rooms) of the hotel. The loss was estimated at $1 million. First Citizens Bank acquired the hotel in early September and hired Providence Hospitality Partners, a hotel management company in Denver, Colo. to run the property.

The remaining 36 rooms have been refurbished and Lanie Suderman has been hired as general manager of the property. Suderman said the clean-up will take about a week and the hotel will re-open for business on Monday, Nov. 11.
