Rim Fire at 75% containment

The Rim Fire that started on Aug. 17, 3 miles east of Groveland along Highway 120, slowly grew over the weekend to more than 235,000 acres as of Monday Sept.1.

Crews have reached 75% containment and are expected to have complete containment by Sept. 20.

The fire destroyed more than 111 building and called for more than 4,500 fire fighting personnel. Now fire crews from the all over the Central Valley are slowly returning home. The cost of the fire has reached more than $60 million.
