Even with the warmer than usual temperatures, fall has hit the Mountain Area. Trees are dropping leaves. Leaves are changing colors to spectacular yellow, red and orange hues. Days are shorter, and evenings are cooler. It’s the transition from summer into winter.
Take a hike along Tioga Road near the Tuolumne Grove trailhead and the Yosemite Creek picnic area to spot brilliant aspen, which can also be discovered in more isolated areas like Glacier Point Road past Summit Meadow.
It’s the perfect combination - unusually warm days and colorful landscapes - to spend a leisurely afternoon hiking in Nelder Grove, around Bass Lake, or any other favorite spot. You will be rewarded with the magnificence of all that mother nature has to offer. Take the opportunity to bask in it before the temperatures drop soon.
