Gallery 5 in Oakhurst has extended the showing “Transitions: Winter into Spring” by Yosemite Renaissance 2018 artist in residence G Dan Mitchell and friends through July 15.

The gallery is at 40982 Highway 41 Suite 5.

According to Yosemite Renaissance, Mitchell and others – Jerry Bosworth, Franka Gabler, Charlotte Gibb, David Hoffman, Vidya Kane and Kerby Smith – spent two months this year photographing Yosemite during the transition from winter to spring. “It is an unpredictable time, rich in imagery for photographers as late winter storms challenge the new growth of spring. Wildflowers appear first, poppies and many others. Dogwoods come next, encouraged by warming temperatures and clearing snow. At the same time temperatures suddenly drop and snow falls in unpredictable ways. Daffodils and irises are suddenly covered in snow.

“G Dan and six other photographers have done their best to capture this magical time in and around Yosemite.”

The show includes over 40 works documenting the transition. Proceeds from the exhibit benefit Yosemite Renaissance, founded in 1984 by the Yosemite Art Guild, a consortium of local Yosemite landscape artists. More than 4,600 artists have participated in Yosemite Renaissance programs.

Gallery 5 is part of Gallery Row in Oakhurst that includes Stellar Gallery and Williams Gallery West.
