The Sierra Oakhurst Kiwanis Club brought its 16th annual Run for the Gold Classic Car Show to Oakhurst on Sept. 8. Oakhurst Park was the center of activity filled with over 100 show vehicles of all types, bringing back many memories of those bygone years of American transportation history.

Besides the cars, Kiwanis served their famous pancakes and breakfast burritos. Local vendors also offered a variety of items, adding to the enjoyment of this family event. Of course, this day would not be complete without that 1950s rock ‘n’ roll music.

Kiwanis kept the afternoon active with their ticket donations for prizes, with all proceeds offered to local schools.

Top awards

Best Hot Rod – Bob Cook’s 1932 Ford 3-window coupe

People’s Choice – Paul Satragni’s 1950 Chevrolet pickup

Best of Show – Kevin Grani’s 1962 Mercury.

Kiwanis also had 45 additional categories with prizes and trophies for classic customs.
