“I’m super excited to have finally set this new record for the 500 free, it’s been my personal goal and I’ve been working for it since I was a freshman,” Johnson said after the meet. “I’d like to get it down another seven seconds before I graduate.”
Johnson has also set goals to break records this season in the 200 free and 100 fly. She is about 4-5 seconds off from each of them.
Her team goal is to break the 400 free relay record with teammates Sammie Rockey, Kelsie Wasem and Josiah Waltner, a mark they are very close to beating.
On April 12, the girls team beat Firebaugh 83-26 with the boys winning 73-29.
