More than 300 people are expected to attend the Oakhurst Sierra Sunrise Rotary Club’s 21st Annual Cajun Creole Fest April 2, at the Oakhurst Community Center.
The crowd will enjoy 700 pounds of pork ribs and spicy shrimp, a raffle featuring nearly 60 items donated by area merchants, and a live auction.
This year’s event chairman is Tim Madden.
Prior to to Madden, Bernie McGoldrick, of McGoldrick & McGoldrick, attorneys at law, served as event chairman for nine years.
“Our community’s generosity amazes me,” McGoldrick said. “For many years I have called the same businesses who donate to so many other causes, and I am almost never turned down. I hope people appreciate how dedicated to our community the sponsors and attendees of the event are.”
Event sponsors, along with McGoldrick, are the North Fork Rancheria, Sierra Telephone, Don DeBernardi of Sierra Asset Management, and Brad Ditton of Century 21 Ditton Realty.
“The event has a reputation for great food and high quality raffle prizes,” said Jackie Mallouf, club president. “People know Rotary is going to put on an excellent event, and they know the money raised will be well spent in the community. We love putting on this dinner and are grateful for our sponsors and the 33 members of our club who make this possible.”
Prior to the event, $5 raffle tickets are being sold for a San Diego mini-vacation. The lucky winner will receive round trip airfare for two, two nights lodging and dinner at Prado Restaurant, and two tickets to the San Diego Zoo. The package is valued at $1,400. The winning ticket will be drawn at the dinner and the winner need not be present to win.
In recent years, the event has raised more than $15,000 for the club’s community service projects.
