More than 100 youngsters and 80 volunteers are ready for Saturday’s 7:30 a.m. Third Annual My Tri Triathlon at Miller’s Landing Resort at Bass Lake.
Last year, more than 300 spectators attended the event.
The swim-bike-run event for ages 5-17, is sponsored by the Chawanakee Children’s Educational Foundation, and benefits art and sports enrichment programs at area schools. Last year’s event raised about $5,000. or
Depending on age, the race consists of three divisions: Dash ( 50 yard swim/two-mile bike/0.5 mile run), Sprint (100 yard swim/four-mile bike/one mile run), and Ace (200 yard swim/eight-mile bike/two-mile run).
Race Co-Director Carrie Waltner said all the participants love the excitement of the event.
“The race also promotes healthy living and the benefits of exercising in a fun way,” Waltner said.
The event is supported by more than 50 business and individual sponsors, who paid between $50 and $1,000 to help pay for traffic control, race promotion, and other event details. The sponsorships also help keep the cost down for all the participants.
Motorists are urged to use caution Saturday morning while driving on Road 222 on the south shore of Bass Lake.
