Willow Fire nears full containment

The Willow Fire, a 5,702 blaze sparked in late July near North Fork and Bass Lake, was 95% contained during the week as crews continued to mop up hot spots and repair fire lines.

An expected date for cull containment of the charred land is 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, forest officials said.

Chamber to host free tri-tip dinner

The Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a free tri-tip dinner for members only, 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the pavilion building behind the Oakhurst Community Center. During the dinner, the chamber will also formally introduce its new executive director, Joelle Leder, and give a state of the chamber report.

Sales for special Fall Festival

The 23rd annual Oakhurst Fall Festival, presented by the Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held Oct. 10-11. There will be food, chocolate, wine and beer booths, as well as featured breweries, wineries, restaurants, cheese, nuts, car show, and children activities.

Sales for a special Fall Festival tab are being sold now at the Sierra Star. New this year is a 2 column x 2.25” restaurant coupon, which includes free color, for $95.

H.O.W. to support Oakhurst woman

Jodi Mikesell, an Oakhurst resident, could use some community support and Helping One Woman intends to spark such assistance during a community dinner 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19 at Yosemite Gateway Restaurant.

H.O.W. asks for a $10 donation from all guests to help Mikesell, suffering through a divorce after her third child was stillborn in April.
