The annual Music on the Green Summer Concert Series at the Art Park in downtown Mariposa features a hometown act this weekend, The Trespassers, who haven’t missed a season since the series started in 2004.

The Trespassers will perform Saturday, Aug. 11.

The sponsoring Mariposa County Arts Council says The Trespassers write and cover songs influenced by old-time and Gypsy jazz music. And, the council adds in a release, “This season’s performance will be a unique one with the inclusion of special guests Jared Jesperson, Fritz Baggot and Music on the Green producer Ronnie Sweeting.”

The weekend begins Friday, Aug. 10 with Bodie 601, which takes its name from the ghost town on the other side of the Sierra where the band calls home. The council says in a release that Bodie 601 plays self-described “bluegrass-ish” music featuring three- and four-part harmony vocals and Amy Grahek’s electric violin; “Grahek wowed the audience at the Art Park several years ago – fronting her former band, The Coreshots – with her fiddling finesse and dynamic stage presence.

All performances begin at 7 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) at the Mariposa County Art Park on Highway 140 between 4th and 5th streets. Free parking is on 5th Street along the Creek Walkway to the Park, also providing handicapped access. The shows are free to the public – tips for the performers will be solicited, encouraged and appreciated, according to the council.
