Steven Standefer, the top tennis player for Yosemite High School, is champion of individual play in the North Sequoia League after winning last week’s tournament.
Standefer, a sophomore with a 14-1 record, earned his first NSL individual championship after placing in second last year.
“Tennis is life, life is tennis,” Standefer said after the Badgers won their second straight NSL championship last month. “It feels great. I’m happy to be where I am and I’m happy to be here with my team.”
David O’Brien placed fourth, Cannon Eames earned fifth, and Ian Pincus finished in sixth place, head coach Aaron Eames said.
All four players qualified for the North Area Tournament at Buchanan High School May 13 and May 14.
