Yosemite High School’s softball team is looking for a rebound after they went on a tough road trip this week, losing to Washington Union 11-3 on Tuesday followed by a 12-0 shutout to Liberty on Friday.
Against Washington Union (7-13, 2-4 North Sequoia League) the Badgers (6-14, 0-6 NSL) fell behind quickly as the Panthers put up five runs in the first inning.
Yosemite sophomore Amaya Chenot was able to respond with her first home run of the year, and went 2-for-2 from the plate. Senior shortstop Lynette Combs was 3-for-4 with a double, while junior catcher Katie Thompson was 2-for-4, but it wasn’t enough to meet the tide of Union scores as the Panthers added six more runs in the sixth inning.
Liberty was an even tougher task, as they finished the game with a 19-4 record, and are making a strong bid to become NSL champions at an undefeated 5-0.
Yosemite will face another solid opponent in the Kerman Lions (13-10-1, 4-2 NSL) at home May 3.
