The Kerman Lions (15-7, 5-0 NSL) basketball team showed why they are undefeated in North Sequoia League play Friday night at Harry S. Baker Jr. Gym.
The Lions blew open a close game with Yosemite (15-8, 3-2 NSL) by going on a 24-2 run to start the third quarter, and breezed to a surprising 73-54 victory over the Badgers.
Kade Cross led YHS with 24 points. Cross is now second all-time in scoring at YHS with 1,049 points. Cross surpassed Travis Ressler who had 1,028 points. Ressler graduated in 2002. At No. 1 is 1991 graduate Rael Lang, who ended his Yosemite basketball career with 1,431 points.
The Badgers travel to Tollhouse Wednesday, Feb. 3, to face a resurgent Sierra Chieftain team (5-14, 2-3 NSL) that lost in overtime to second place Washington Union on Jan. 27.
YHS defeated Sierra 61-56 on Jan. 15.
The Badger girls varsity team beat Kerman 43-29.
The YHS boys JV team (10-8, 2-3 NSL) lost to Kerman 57-51.
