The Yosemite High volleyball team (17-8) went 4-2 at the Sept. 18-19 Madera South High School tournament, capturing second place.
The Badger’s four wins came against Atwater High (25-14, 22-25,15-9), Porterville (25-12, 25-21), Bullard (25-23, 22-25,15-9), and Madera South (25-27, 25-23,15-13).
Yosemite’s two losses were to El Diamante High of Visalia (24-26, 25-27), and Fresno’s Edison High (23-25,16-25).
Player’s accumulative stats for the six games included:
Karee Smith (24 kill shots, six ace serves, 10 stuff blocks, six digs), Dainya Debock (28 kills, three aces, six stuffs, 10 digs); Rachel Loveland (11 kills, three aces, six stuffs, 10 digs, five assists); Kailei Gould (26 kills, 10 aces, 43 digs); Savanna Bohna (22 kills, 12 digs); and Tiffany Cacy (87 assists, 26 digs, five aces, two stuffs).
Other contributions came from Hannah Hurtado (57 digs); Autumn Mitchell 24 digs, three kills, two aces); and Shelby Biscaglio (19 digs, two aces).
On Sept. 15, the Badgers defeated Immanuel, winning three of four sets (27-25, 24-26, 30-28, 25-22).
Cacy had 37 assists on the night, and kill shots were recorded by Debock (16), Bohna (10), and Loveland (six).
Debock also had three blocks, and Loveland added four blocks, and nine digs.
Defensive specialists Gould, and Hurtado had 19 and 17 digs respectively.
The Badgers are on the road this week, playing Sierra Pacific High School on Tuesday and San Joaquin Memorial tonight.
Coach Michele Chenowith expects sophomore Siena Oswald, returning this week from a broken foot, to strengthen the team.
The team will play at Kingsburg on Oct. 1, and returns home Oct. 6 to open North Sequoia League play with Kerman. Varsity games are at 6 p.m.
