The Minarets High School basketball team (3-10, 2-1 West Sequoia League) recorded its second league win on the season, defeating the Parlier Panthers (0-3 WSL) 52-30 Jan. 23, after losing to the Caruthers Blue Raisers 68-33 on Jan. 20.
Looking to stay in contention for the league title, the Mustangs established the game tempo early against Parlier. Sam Delks led the team is scoring with 18 points. He also had 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Mason Ellis scored16 points, to go with his 13 rebounds and 5 steals.
“It was a solid effort and a bounce back win after losing to Caruthers,” Coach Paul Varner said.
With the win, the Mustangs stay close in the standings after Cauthers was upset last Friday by the Fowler Red Cats, 54-52.
The Mustangs played the Red Cats Tuesday (results not available at press time), and travel to Fresno Christian for a rematch against the Eagles. The Mustangs won the first game 63-54.
The JV game is at 4 p.m., with the varsity game at 7:30.
