Lilly accused of fraud
Former Major league Baseball pitcher and Yosemite High student Ted Lilly has been charged with three felony counts of insurance fraud. The accusations stems from a incident in March when Lilly damaged his recreational vehicle worth an estimated $210,000.
According to reports Lilly damaged the vehicle while backing up and sought an estimate from a body shop on March 19. The reports says Lilly then purchased insurance coverage on the vehicle from Progressive on March 24, and filed a claim to recoup damages on March 28. The estimated damage was $4,600.
Charges were filed Oct. 24, and include filing a false insurance claim, filing a false statement in connection with an insurance claim, and concealing material in connection with an insurance claim. If convicted Lilly faces a maximum sentience of five years in jail.
