Bear hugs for the Dittons
Personally I would like to thank Brad Ditton for taking the positive approach to the tree problems in our area by having three trees on his property (Century 21 Ditton Realty) at the corner of Highway 41 and Road 426 carved into bears.
They are charming, decorative and fun, and they give great pleasure to those who see them. He solved what could have been ugly stumps.
Thank you Brad and Belinda for your thoughtfulness to the pleasures of our community.

How delightful to read the lovely letter of Rachel Tuggy, on behalf of Jeanne Curnow. What a wonderful reminder that people do notice when someone is kind and helpful. It’s nice to hear of that person getting a pat on the back.
The world needs more Sheilas, (Sheila Rogers) and more people like the letter writers who take the time to acknowledge the kindness.
It didn’t cost a thing, but it really made my day. Thank you for printing such a special letter.

No to socialism
It was a pleasure to read T.R. Williams, Ponder This, in the Jan. 14 Sierra Star. It has been a long time since Dr. Bill Atwood has had some local support regarding local and national politics.
Also, it is high time that Cavanaugh and his ilk were slapped down with the truth, with the facts, and the results that Socialism would bring to the U.S.A.
I know. I left the United Kingdom because of the ruiness Socialism 50 years ago. I am now alarmed that it is worming its way into our democratic administrations.
Williams’ anecdote on socialism, as illuminated by Winston Churchill said it correctly.
