In 1968 I voted for Richard Nixon. I just couldn’t vote for Hubert Humphrey.
In 1972, just months after the break-in at the Watergate I again cast my vote for Nixon. I thought George McGovern wasn’t what America needed. Remember that there were few details about Watergate that had come out by the election, as Woodward and Bernstein were just at the beginning of getting information.
Many people thought as I did; Nixon could not be that stupid to go along with a break-in of the Democrat Party headquarters. It made no sense; he led in every poll.
Day after day the press did what the press should do and investigated the President and his staff. Day after day the press began to chip away at the stories being fed to everyone. It was a two-bit robbery. It was overzealous campaigners, and it was enemies of the president who were leaking the stories.
Evidence showed the president wasn’t involved in the break-in but in the cover-up. Nixon wasn’t dumb enough to plan the break-in but he was ignorant when it came to doing the right thing. He should have fired the planners and let the chips fall where they might. His poll numbers would not have fallen enough to change the outcome of the election, and Nixon would have saved both his presidency and his legacy.
We heard each day the next tidbit of information about the break-in and the enemies lists with the IRS, “Dirty Tricks,” and other deeds done on behalf of the Nixon Campaign. Each day Nixon supporters were defending the actions because each day it was just a small nugget and you found yourself defending stupidity because you still can’t accept that the man you supported for the presidency was that crooked or that stupid.
Day after day when you hear more information you begin to question your support.
When friends question your support you begin the change of positions slowly by saying things such as, “I’m getting to wonder myself.” or, “That part bothers me.” You finally give in and tell your friends, “I’m done. I think he’s lied to us.” From that point on you find yourself disgusted by the actions of Nixon and his team but also a tremendous feeling of personal betrayal. You stood up for a scoundrel and that bothered you.
Hillary and Bill have played their game for years. Sex scandals with many “Bimbo eruptions” blamed on the Right-wing conspiracy and Hillary denouncing the women as liars, the Rose Law Firm accounts and their attacks on greedy corporate America.
Their attorney, Vince Foster, killed himself over Whitewater. The Clintons have earned many millions of dollars in book deals and speaking fees after Bill left office and while Hillary was Secretary of State. They are a part of the one percenters their base hates.
Benghazi and the stand-down, and blaming the video producer who still is in jail. Hillary told her family it was terrorists the next day while she told everyone else the video lies. Remember, “What difference does it make?”
The emails on her private server that contained classified information more secret than “Top Secret” and Hillary lies using “Clintonspeak”; telling us that she never sent or received anything marked “Classified.”
Nothing is marked Classified. The information is what is classified and at that level it should have been clear to her that it was top, top, top secret. But she and Slick Willie knew a private server couldn’t be subpoenaed by the government, so they opted to endanger the security of every military man and woman, every spy and mole in other countries, and every citizen of this nation from being attacked to hide information. This was premeditated. The Obama White House knew the email address wasn’t a government address.
Hillary was against same-sex marriage until polling data showed a shift. Hillary was telling us that there were weapons of mass destruction at the same time Al Gore was saying it along with Biden, Pelosi, Feinstein and George W. Bush. They all have developed amnesia except for George W.
Benghazi, Whitewater, sex scandals, Rose Law Firm billings, Clinton Foundation questions, speaking fees, Russian reset button, private jets, no transparency, “HillaryCare,” a record as Secretary of State who did so little her supporters can’t really name an accomplishment except she traveled a great deal, emails and private servers stored in the restroom of a small company in Colorado.
Soon Hillary supporters need to accept a fact taught by Nixon. A scoundrel is a scoundrel.
