The headline of Saturday’s Fresno Bee touted the fact that the former Harvard Law Professor was going to go it alone in his struggle to close the “gun show loop hole.” His actions are his latest attempt to limit gun ownership in the United States.
What the Fresno Bee should have stated in the Saturday headline was “Obama snubs the American People and their Constitutional Rights.” The president is telling us he will be meeting with his aides and the attorney general to make sure that his executive action will be legal. He couldn’t care less about it being legal. He will be talking to people he appointed and who serve at the will of the president for advice and counsel on an issue upon which he decided years ago. He hates the NRA because the NRA stands up to his actions.
Looking back into our history, one of the many reasons that the colonists were angry with their king was that the bureaucrats, governors, and judges were all appointed by his majesty and since their livelihood depended upon his approval, it was easy to see that the subjects of the realm had little chance at a fair decision. The community organizer will get the opinions that will satisfy him and he will usurp the Constitution that he formerly taught to Harvard Law students. They should request a refund for their tuition.
I understand the need for executive actions and I agree that all of the presidents in the last 70 years or longer used them. They have generally been used to allow the government to take an action that was missed in legislation that makes a great deal of common sense to enact. The idea of executive action was never intended to bypass the congress. For those of you who choose to support Barack Obama on his use of executive action and bypassing Congress on an issue that deals directly with a constitutional right, please imagine your angst should a future president outlaw Roe vs. Wade by executive action.
Please be silent that if by executive action a president decrees that the 22nd Amendment is void; this amendment limits presidents to two terms or 10 years in office. If the dictator can just decree what he wants, then why do we need a Congress or a Supreme Court?
The issue here isn’t the gun control laws but the idea that this president sees the Constitution as a hindrance to how the world should be controlled.
I find it interesting that whenever there is a mass shooting, such as what took place in San Bernardino, the president and his ilk blame the weapon. The executive action that he proposes would not have stopped this shooting, the Aurora theater massacre, Gabby Gifford, the church in Charleston, Fort Hood, Sandy Hook, or the Navy Yard shooting. Crazy people will do their horrific deeds because they are crazy.
The law professor/community organizer decides that the safest way to protect Americans from these mass killings is to limit the rights of law-abiding citizens. The terrorists know their targets are unarmed because of the big signs in front of those places stating that they are “gun free zones.” Just imagine if a law-abiding citizen had a concealed weapon permit in San Bernardino and had a gun in that room against that terrorist. Perhaps fewer kids would have celebrated this past Christmas without a parent.
The tyrant calls for controlling our weapons and while many think it is only a little limit on our liberty, then ask yourself what is the next logical step after the background checks and registration. Confiscation? They are talking about taking away guns from people deemed crazy or mentally ill. On the surface that makes perfect sense until one wonders what happens next. What happens when a governmental agency or individual decides that you are “crazy enough” just so they may take away your weapons? Remember when some liberal politicians cited “right-wing, conservative Christians” as terrorists?
The Second Amendment was placed in that position directly after the First Amendment to help the citizens keep the government and tyrants at bay. It wasn’t for duck hunting or skeet shooting. It was for defense against criminals and the government.
The administration is using this distraction to keep us from talking about the failed policies of this administration to keep us safe from terrorism. We don’t feel safe. That is why gun sales are going through the roof. This administration has become the greatest sales tool for gun manufacturers.
Just remember that those politicians who are demanding a limit to your Second Amendment rights are all protected by people carrying loaded weapons.
The tyrant turned up his nose at the American people.
