The recent tragedy at the Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore., has the anti (legal) gun nuts screaming again. Our president decided to fly there to offer his condolences and prayers. He said these incidents are becoming too common and something must be done. He said our nation is a leader in these types of killings. He forgets that suicide bombers kill hundreds weekly in the Middle East. He wants to bring 200,000 of those refugees here. Insanity.
Something is being done in California. Governor Moonbeam signed legislation outlawing concealed weapons on college campuses. That’s called insanity. Had several of the students at UCC been armed and trained in the use of arms many lives could have been saved. Leave it to Moonbeam to render all California university students totally defenseless.
Presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson recently stated that were he to find himself in a similar situation as that at UCC he would have suggested those threatened should rush the gunman to save lives. Again, the left wing nuts went even nuttier. Just how far has our sense of reality strayed from reality?
It was only a short time ago that three young Americans did just what Dr. Carson suggested on a Paris-bound train. Action was taken and lives were saved. Patriots call those young men heroes. Subversive idiots want law-abiding citizens disarmed.
Our nightly news almost always leads off with another killing or a fire. In one way the news is just an extension of the “entertainment” that leads up to the news.
What we call entertainment is full of graphic, bloody killings, awesome explosions, and the most horrendous crimes mankind can inflict on itself. A new series on CBS has a guy taking a pill which makes him the most intelligent person on the planet. That’s the answer, just take a pill. Several of our national sports heroes tried that. It didn’t work out so well.
As a nation we spend hundreds of millions of dollars weekly to go to the theater to see the latest special effects that make it the worst possible gore one can imagine.
Children are given expensive hand-held video devices where they learn how to blow things up and kill people. A teenager in Laytonville, Calif., killed his friend and his friend’s father because he wanted to know what it was like to take a life. Far too many adults can’t break the addiction to those “games.” That’s adulthood without maturity.
Morality? Out the window. We hunger after fifty shades of lust, fornication and adultery at the cinema and on television. So-called comedies are so full of sexual innuendo they drip with vulgarity. And we gladly pay for it. So why get outraged at Bill Cosby?
We shake our heads in sadness over actual tragedies and then it’s back to our entertainment. Perhaps that’s why we so quickly forget that mass murders on college campuses can be diminished by thinking Americans, instead of wacko philosophies held by bureaucrats with the power to write law and our own sense of entertainment.
Our Justice Department has lost its way. It rules that a court in Oklahoma must remove a monument of the 10 Commandments while our own U.S. Supreme Court has the same monument in its chambers. Insanity.
I suggest it’s time that we as a nation do some honest soul searching. Yes, I said “soul.” That is what God has given us over the beasts of the field - the ability to transcend death and come face to face with our Creator with a good conscience. The consequences are very real.
