Marlene G. Elliott died Feb. 20, 2016. She was born in 1931 to Stewart and Suzanne Gott, in El Centro.
Mrs. Elliott worked in public relations and office management, culminating her career at the University of Southern California, and retiring in 1980.
A Mountain Area resident from 1973-2004, her interests included writing, painting, genealogy, and classical music. She was an active member of the Sierra Vista Church, and active volunteer of the Sierra Historic Sites Association.
She was a freelance correspondent for the Sierra Star, and co-authored a book with the late Frank Neufeld, “Under This Sun.” She later had a children’s book published.
Mrs. Elliott was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her parents; and her brother, James S. Gott.
She is survived by her children, Clifford and wife Madeleine of Alta Loma, Vivian Ilten and husband Eugene of Susanville, Karen of Reedley, and Jeffrey and wife Jennifer of Garden Grove; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m., April 16, at Dinuba Mennonite Brethren Church (110 Nichols Avenue).
