Heinz Emil Betat died Nov. 4, 2015, at the age of 80. He was born to George and Helen, Oct. 21, 1935, in East Prussia, Germany.
In February, 1952, he and his family immigrated to America, where he began working on a Michigan dairy farm. As a young adult, he later moved to southern California, where he worked as foreman in a furniture factory. In 1972, he and his wife, Maria, relocated to Ahwahnee, where he found work in construction, on an almond farm, and starting his own carpentry business.
Mr. Betat enjoyed helping others find a relationship with God by installing satellite dishes for the 3ABN and Glorystar Networks.
He was preceded by his daughter, Diane.
Mr. Betat is survived by his wife, Maria, and son, Olaf; four grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Nov. 14, at the Oakhurst Seventh-day Adventist Church.
