Ivadelle Mowery died Oct. 11, 2015 at the age of 83. She was born June 10, 1932 to Eddie and Elizabeth Polkenhorn, and was raised in North Fork. Shortly after graduation from Sierra High, she joined the U.S. Navy, serving as a WAVE.
Mrs. Mowery returned to North Fork in 1984, and became involved in preserving the Mono Indian culture, while working as a demonstrator at the Indian Museum in Yosemite National Park, and at the Sierra Mono Museum.
She is survived by her children, Don, Mike, David and Jeff; her sister, Imogene Ryder, brother, Ed Polkenhorn; grandson, Matthew, and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Oct. 19 at the North Fork Cemetery.
