Gregory Ralph Gonzales died May 16, 2017 at the age of 63. He was born in the Bay Area on March 19, 1954 to Ralph and Dorothy.
The Oakhurst resident was owner of The Hitching Post in Ahwahnee, and prior to that worked with Kirkwood Bly. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Bootjack Fire Department.
Mr. Gonzales enjoyed his family time, spending time outdoors, and was big on giving back to the community.
He is survived by his wife Sharlene; sons Luke and Scott; one grandson; sister Laura Travis; and many nieces and nephews.
A day of silence will be held June 12 at the Hitching Post, and a celebration of life barbecue will be held 10 a.m., June 18 at Lupine Cedar Bluff Day Use Area in Bass Lake. The family will provide the meats, and attendees are asked to bring a side dish and drinks for the potluck.
