Richard (Dick) Paul Ditton died April 18, 2017 at the age of 94. He was born May 12, 1922 in Fairview, Montana to Vernon and Maggie.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during WWII, and earning the Bronze Star for bravery. He worked for Yosemite National Park and Curry Company for 30 plus years. In 1945, he coached the Yosemite Badgers football team, and was an active member of the Yosemite Lions Club, served as a Mariposa County School Board Trustee and as a commissioner of the Madera County Economic Development Commission. He was also a member of the Masons for 55 years.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Pearl; children Judith Appling, Brad and wife Belinda of Coarsegold, and Jeannine Mitchell Reece and husband Robert; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and his brother Jim.
A Masonic and military memorial service will be held 1 p.m., June 3, at the Oakhurst Masonic Lodge. A cake and beverage reception will follow in the lodge’s social hall.
