Members of the Yosemite High School FFA Club participated in the Madera District Fair from Sept. 5 - 13. They started the week with three rabbit showman, one dairy goat showman, and one chicken showman.
YHS senior Taylor Wade was awarded with the Reserve Champion Meat Pen.
As they moved throughout the week, there were three students who showed sheep, three showed goats, and nine showing swine.
“These students have worked very hard to maintain the correct nutrition for their animals, as well as their showmanship skills since they received their animals in June,” FFA Advisor Jordana Shandor said.
Many students took second in their class, with a few moving into their respective breed championship classes. The students showing swine were awarded with the Clean Barn award for the week. This award requires the students to have their area clean, animals clean, fed, and watered, as well as having their area decorated.
“Overall, the Yosemite FFA Show Team did a great job at fair,” Shandor added. “They were thankful to their families, friends, classmates, teachers, and community supporters for helping them before and during fair, and are looking forward to showing at the Chowchilla Fair in May 2016.”
