A Coarsegold man was arrested on suspicion of DUI Wednesday night after he collided with a power pole, sparking a vegetation fire that was quickly contained in Oakhurst.
Michael Womack II, 27, was driving on Road 425B around 6:30 p.m. west of Still Meadow Drive at about 30 mph when he allegedly turned his 1997 Toyota Camry into the power pole, CHP reports said.
Two power lines touched, which caused sparks to fall onto dry vegetation, sparking the fire.
Womack declined medical attention for minor injuries, and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
He was booked into Madera County Jail, and later paid bail.
