The Madera County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man around 40 to 50 years old that allegedly approached, possibly with malicious intent, a 13-year-old boy around 3:30 to 3:45 p.m. yesterday along the Oakhurst River Parkway Trail.
After the Sierra Star first reported yesterday on the possible alleged abductor, more than 100 shared the post on social media and many have continued to keep an eye out for the man, who had yet to be found by authorities Thursday afternoon.
The man was wearing a red and gray flannel jacket as well as a black beanie at the time of the incident, and is described as Caucasian and around 5-foot-8-inches tall. He allegedly ordered the teenager to approach him near Road 426 across from the Oakhurst Community Center, but the boy outran him to the Oakhurst Boys & Girls Club and contacted the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff’s Commander Bill Ward said the man may have returned to the Oakhurst Community Park area after allegedly chasing the boy.
If anyone sees this man, they are asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (559) 675-7770. The anonymous Valley Crime Stoppers tip line can also be reached at 1-888-498-STOP (7867).
