On Monday Feb. 12, the hard work of Yosemite High School seniors Kailee Chase and Caitlyn Burns went on sale at Cool Beans, the two are responsible for the publication of “Iris” an art and poetry magazine by YHS students.
The magazine is the brain child of Chase, established last year when a sports injury caused her to turn to other passions, art and literature.
The response from her peers was overwhelming and as “Iris” rolls out its fourth edition Chase says, “the submissions have only gotten stronger and student and public interest has grown significantly.”
The magazines are impressive. The covers are bold and colorful and the interiors are lined with pages of insight and talent authored by YHS’ teens.
Before the end of their senior year, Chase and Burns hope to find new students to carry out their vision as they prepare to release their final edition by years end.
The girls are excited to expand their audience outside of school walls and would like everyone to know that all proceeds go to the YHS art department.
“Iris” magazine is $5 a copy.
