A winter storm warning for Monday, Jan. 8, and possibly into Tuesday has been issued by the National Weather Service Center in Hanford. According to the center, this could be the strongest of the season so far, with the possibility of dropping substantial rain totals throughout Central California.
Heavy snow as low as 4,500 feet by Tuesday evening could build in the Sierra Nevada, with 3-5 inches of snow over the Kern County mountains.
This winter storm watch includes the Sierra Nevada between Yosemite National Park and the Kern County line. There is also the potential for road closures at higher elevations due to blowing snow and flash flooding.
