With the mission of having more cancer survivors every year, this year’s Relay for Life Survivor Committee is seeking survivors.
On Relay day, Saturday, May 14, the event starts off with the Survivor Lap. This lap symbolizes the victory over cancer. A Survivor is anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer - whether just today or 20 years ago - who is or has been undergoing treatment - who fought cancer and won.
Survivors are also acknowledged by being the first ones to walk around the Relay track. Afterwards they can visit the various booths located along the track. Each booth has unique complimentary items made especially for our celebrated survivors.
Cancer Survivors are a great inspiration to others who are currently battling cancer. They can give suggestions, helpful hints or just a chance to talk about treatments and other symptoms they’ve been through.
Relay provides a fun place to enjoy their big win. Family and friends who have helped them through their battle can come out and see all the other happy faces of those who have also won. It’s a time to yell and celebrate their achievement.
