A man from outside Madera County was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno Tuesday morning after he sustained a gunshot wound to the leg while in North Fork, sheriff’s Lt. Bill Ward said.
Ward said the man, 35, will not be identified as part of the investigation.
Around 4 a.m. Tuesday, Ward said the male was transported to the Cal Fire station on Road 200, with the wound to his leg. He was taken to the hospital from there.
Ward said sheriff’s deputies are still looking into the cause of the shooting, with some witnesses saying the man shot himself, while others pointed to unidentified suspects as behind the trigger.
