The Eastern Madera County SPCA invites the community to join in its groundbreaking ceremony, led by Madera County District 5 Supervisor Tom Wheeler, at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the shelter site across from Wasuma Elementary off Highway 49.
This marks the beginning of the construction for the EMC SPCA Animal Care and Adoption Center, as the goal of $1.6 million in donations and fundraising was met earlier this year.
A reception will follow in Wasuma’s multi-purpose room, where attendees can view shelter renderings and ask any questions they may have.
On Tuesday, Kathy and Lyle Swanson updated the sign at the intersection of Highways 41 and 49 to reflect how an animal shelter will finally be built in Eastern Madera County.
“It’s great to see this finally happening,” Kathy said. “We can’t wait.”
