An arrest warrant has been issued for an Oakhurst resident charged Friday for allegedly swerving across lanes on Highway 41 while under the influence and causing a wreck with major injuries.
Sherry Lynn Abraugh-Getchell, 40, is accused of swerving out of the southbound lane on Highway 41 north of Road 425B in her gray Chevrolet Trailblazer around 7 a.m. Sept. 28, then colliding with a northbound vehicle driven by Debra Essary of Coarsegold, which caused major injuries.
One person was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center of Fresno with multiple fractured bones, while Abraugh-Getchell was taken by ambulance to the same location with a broken arm and other injuries.
Abraugh-Getchell was charged for two felonies related to having a blood alcohol level over the 0.08 limit, with special allegations for causing bodily injury.
“The District Attorney’s Office is committed to make the county’s streets and highways safer,” District Attorney David Linn said. “We will vigorously prosecute drunk drivers with particular emphasis on our major thoroughfares such as Highway 41, Highway 99, and Highway 145.”
Arraignment is expected in November at the Sierra Division of Madera County Superior Court.
