Highway 41 from Vista Point Overlook to Victoria Lane will have one-lane traffic from Thursday until Monday, Cal Trans spokeswoman Gloria Rodriguez said, as workers install a new drainage culvert and put in a traffic shoulder.
Delays began Thursday morning around 8:30 a.m., Rodriguez said, and are expected to last until 2:30 p.m., with delays in similar time periods Friday and Monday before an expected completion Monday afternoon.
Rodriguez said maintenance officials wanted to do the project for a while, and finally found the right time to get the culvert dug in the highway as well as the shoulder paved.
“Some trucks have found it hard to gain speed when dealing with the one-lane-traffic stops,” Rodriguez said, “but those delays should last only about five minutes as they switch back and forth for traffic.”
Drivers are asked to remain cautious and “slow for the cone zone,” Rodriguez said, to keep themselves and workers safe.
