Madera Community College Center, Madera County Compact and several manufacturing companies are collaborating to expose Madera County High School students to manufacturing careers on Friday, Oct. 2.
Manufacturing Day is celebrated on the first Friday of every month in observation of giving manufacturers an opportunity to increase awareness in training programs and viable career opportunities.
Students, teachers and administrators will tour two local manufacturing companies and learn about their products, services, education and on-going training to keep pace in today’s industry. Upon returning to the MCCC campus, students will attend presentations and workshops. At that time, Congressman Jim Costa (D-16th) will briefly address students during the breakout sessions.
“Early exposure to such high-tech and dynamic manufacturing companies in our area will be of great help to students who are thinking about careers,” said John Fitzer, vice president of MCCC. “We are excited to be a part of Manufacturing Day 2015 and look forward to many more collaborative efforts in the future.”
